One of the great benefits of technology in the 21st century is the rise of quality distance learning programs in leading universities. While satellite and certificate programs have been around for decades, social media revolutionized the concept with the rise of the virtual classroom. Instructors and students alike can now interact with each other across state, country, and even continental boundaries in real time. If you don’t live near a school that offers the courses necessary to further your career, that’s no longer a problem in the social age.

For over 50 years, the University of California Irvine Extension has been a leader in continuing education and certificate programs, and has been active in utilizing all the newest social tools to keep these programs on the cutting edge. Two of the UC Irvine Extension’s online programs are its Social Media Specialized Studies program and its Internet Marketing Certificate Program. These programs are designed to arm both experienced and incoming marketers alike with the tools to understand not simply how social media works, but how engaging online can lead to powerful results for businesses of all sizes.

Announcing an Exciting Online Social Media Strategy Course

I am pleased to announce my involvement in these exciting UC Irvine Extension programs by teaching an updated online course titled, “Developing a Social Media Strategy” (MGMT X461.54). The course, designed to fulfill two quarter-units of credit requirements for either the Social Media or Internet Marketing programs, will help marketers build a targeted plan of attack with their social marketing campaigns. Without a focused strategy that plots a clear path through key touch points, marketers run the risk of chasing their social tails, so to speak, expending a great deal of effort without seeing measurable results.

UC Irvine Extension is a global leader in distance learning, and these innovative courses are guaranteed to offer marketers the world over the tools they need to drive business success in the 21st century.
